This is a fourth of a series of gatherings we are convening around the country, and responds directly to one of the recommendations made in our Independent Dance Sector Report, published in April 2024.

The first three dance gatherings have now taken place: in Sydney on 16 October 2024, in Melbourne on 7 November 2024, and in Perth on 26 June 2025. You can read the summary reports from the Sydney and Melbourne gatherings.

This fourth gathering in Brisbane will be facilitated by Carl Sciberras (General Manager, Dance Makers Collective) and Frankie Snowdon (Co-Artistic Director, GUTS Dance). It will bring independents and organisations together to discuss which recommendations in the Report are most relevant in the Brisbane context, and how we as a sector want to prioritise and drive forward. We will create space to gain greater transparency and understanding between the different parts of our sector ecology, acknowledging that times are challenging for all of us, and that coming together will generate the best outcomes.
