Circus Insurance Deep Dive #1: Understanding Insurance

TNA is excited to offer a two-part resource aimed at helping CaPT artists and organisations navigate challenges of the current insurance market. This resource includes tools and information to help you understand insurance and secure the right coverage for your needs.

Brush Up on Insurance Basics

TNA has created a handy guide tailored specifically for artists and companies from the circus and physical theatre sector—whether you’re new to insurance or want to check your understanding.

This resource includes definitions of common terms along with a step-by-step guide to navigating the insurance market and working with a broker. It also provides links to helpful resources from the Insurance Council of Australia and the Institute of Community Directors Australia.

Find the Right Coverage

We have taken some of the legwork out of your insurance research by summarising everything the sector told us last year about insurers and brokers currently servicing Australian circus.

Kickstart your insurance search with TNA’s overview of insurance options for circus.

Improve Your Insurability

The insurance market is tough right now for all kinds of small businesses across Australia. But there is one thing you can do to improve your chances of securing coverage and assist your broker in negotiating cheaper premiums—ensure your safety & risk processes are rigorous and well-documented.

Learn more at Not-For-Profit Insurance Week

Not-For-Profit Insurance Week is an initiative run by the Institute of Community Directors Australia and Aon. This year it will take place from 24—28 March and features a series of free webinars plus access to information and resources.

We suggest checking out these webinars if your circus organisation is a not-for-profit:

  • Why You Should ‘Health Check’ Your Policy (Fri 28 March)
  • Cover for Your Board & Why You Need It (Thur 27 March)
  • How Insurers Review Your Risk & How to Make Your NFP More Attractive to Insurers (Tues 25 March)

In part two of this resource we explore how you can advocate for better insurance for yourself and for the whole sector. We share advocacy tools such as information on rigging at heights, overviews of sector needs and current challenges, and a summary of insights from the Insurance Council of Australia.
