The Greens launch policy – A Creative Australia

The Australian Greens have launched their 2019 arts platform – A Creative Australia.

“Cuts and more cuts to the cultural sector by the Coalition government have seen artists pushed below the poverty line while galleries and studios have shut their doors. Despite this, Australians haven’t given up on the arts, with participation in the arts continuing to grow.1 The Greens know the cultural and economic importance of the arts and that’s why we have a comprehensive plan to breathe life back into creative Australia.”

As well as restoring and indexing funding to the Australia Council, the Greens will create a Living Arts Fund, establish a Creativity Commission, advocate for effective local content quotas, as well as commit $150 million over four years to set up an artistic partnership program to fund artists working with teachers in classrooms.
