TNA Advocacy Update

As we head to the 2019 Federal Election, TNA is joining the other performing arts peak orgs to call for a more secure creative vision for Australia. We are calling for all sides of politics:

a. To support the development of NIACA – a National Indigenous Arts and Cultural Authority – Read our joint letter of support here;

b. To return funding to the Australia Council – TNA urges both sides of politics to implement the Recommendations of the Senate Inquiry into Arts Funding decisions, including that “government restore to the Australia Council the full amount of funds diverted from it in the 2014 MYEFO and 2015 Budget”. Read the Committee View and all 13 Recommendations here.

c. Secure the Arts – In partnership with other National performing arts peak organisations, we are calling for an additional uplift in funding to invest in national touring, grants, organisations and strategic initiatives, and a new fund for the development of new major Australian works – the organisations are:

Australian Major Performing Arts Group (AMPAG)
AusDance National
BlakDance
Live Performance Australia
Music Australia
Performing Arts Connections Australia
Regional Arts Australia
Symphony Services Australia
Theatre Network Australia

d. We call for the advancement of interconnections between the arts and other portfolios for better public policy outcomes.
