2025 TNA Biennial Salary Survey – Open to Organisations
Our Salary Survey captures the salaries, benefits, professional development budgets, staff tenures and representation of small-to-medium arts organisations. It helps organisations with benchmarking and advocates for remuneration that is in line with other sectors. The report will be made available to TNA members later this year. Non-profit and for-profit arts organisations across Australia with salaried staff and with an annual turnover of $4m or less are encouraged to complete the survey. Take the Salary Survey now.
NATIONAL STUFF
4 July – Midsumma Festival 2026 Queer Playwriting Award
The Award supports and develops new playwriting talent. Selected works will be invited to present a 15-minute staged reading at Gasworks Arts Park during Midsumma Festival 2026. One work will be selected to receive ongoing support and development.
4–18 July – Dance Makers Collective Make It Happen Workshops (NSW)
Three workshops in July for creatives and producers on making projects happen. The workshops cover: systems and design thinking; program logic and theory of change; relationships; and project management. Costs start from $60.
5 July – INCITE Workshop (NSW)
Workshop on physical practice and movement generation. Run by National Theatre of Parramatta and Force Majeure. Cost: $59.
6–13 July – NAIDOC Week
This year’s NAIDOC Week marks 50 years of honouring First Nations voices. Check out local events happening in your area.
7 July – Australia Post Community Grants
Up to $10,000 each year to fund community-led, local projects. For projects that help people connect and stay mentally well. There is additional funding to support disaster-impacted communities.
7 July – APT X NIDA First Nations Emerging Writers Group (Online)
Project by the National Institute of Dramatic Art and Australian Plays Transform. For First Nation’s emerging artists and storytellers to develop skills in writing for performance. Artists meet online for workshops. Financial support provided.
7 July – Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Grants (NSW)
Up to $20,000 for multicultural festivals and events. Projects should foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity in NSW.
8 July – Creative Australia National Arts and Disability Awards
Celebrates the work and achievements of d/Deaf and disabled artists. Award for Established Artist: $50,000. Award for Early Career Artist: $20,000.
8 July – Creative Australia Helsinki International Artist Programme
Three-month residency offers $12,500 for open-ended research and experimentation. The program focuses on visual arts but can extend to dance, theatre, and music. Previous residents include Joshua Pether and Sarah Aiken.
8 July–30 July – Go Global Toolkit Market Spotlight Webinars
Austrade’s Go Global Toolkit provides support to Australian businesses that want to export internationally. There are webinars in July spotlighting the markets in northeast Asia, southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, UK, UAE, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and America.
9 July – Brand X Live Arts Residency
Six-day residency and $1,200 for artists. Generate new ideas, build collaborations, and test concepts without the pressure of an outcome. For artists exploring the ‘live experience’ across contemporary arts and performing arts.
11 July – APAX Early Bird Registrations
APAX is on 11–15 August in Garramilla/Darwin. Early bird registrations close this month. Costs start from $920.
11–20 July – Darwin Fringe Industry Events

13 July – La Boite Director Observerships (QLD)
For Brisbane-based emerging artists to gain further insight into directing. Shadow professionals at La Boite during the rehearsal period for Congratulations, Get Rich! Observership positions are voluntary.
14 July – Arts NT Varuna National Writers House Residential Fellowships (NT)
For writers in NT to undertake a two-week residency at Varuna in NSW. Residents receive $1,500, accommodation, and evening meals.
14 July – Pride Foundation Australia Small Grants
Up to $1,000 for projects that assist, involve and benefit LGBTQIA+ people. Priority will be given to First Nations people, newly arrived migrants, refugees and people from CALD backgrounds.
14–18 July – Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA) Leadership Week
ICDA is hosting free webinars on leadership. These sessions are for the not-for-profit and community sector. Topics include effective delegation, social cohesion, wellbeing in leadership, and AI.
19 July – NORPA Improvisation Workshop (NSW)
Free full-day improvisation workshop with theatre-maker Fred Copperwaite. Explore performance ideas sparked by the theme “The Dinner Party at the End of the World.”
22 July – Institute of Community Directors Australia ‘Conflict Resolution’ Training
Three-hour conflict resolution training on tools to manage and solve conflicts within a board. Cost: $249 for non-members.
24 July – Fremantle Biennale Midfield Choreographer EOIs
Fremantle Biennale, Performing Lines WA, and STRUT Dance are hosting an experimental choreographic platform. It will run for three weeks during the Fremantle Biennale. Successful artists receive $4,500, per diems, accommodation and travel to Boorloo/Perth. Artists take part in workshops, discussions, and are invited to present public-facing outcomes.
24 July – Performing Lines Tasmanian Regional Artist Residency (TAS)
A three-day residency for regional Tasmanian artists to explore new performance project ideas. The residency is largely subsidised. But each accepted applicant will need to make a small deposit, which is refundable after attending the residency.
24 July – Australian Performing Arts Market’s Groundwork
APAM has launched Groundwork. This is a free initiative for professional development and capacity building, offered every month. The first session is ‘Understanding International Tour Readiness’ and ‘Developing an International Strategy’.
25 July – The Mill Centre Stage Residencies (SA)
A four-week incubator for South Australian artists to develop a new performance. It will end with a season at The Mill during Adelaide Fringe 2026. Artists receive $6,000, and technical and production support.
29 July – Creative Australia Knowledge Series on Arts Fundraising
Masterclass on arts fundraising with Kel Haney in August: “Pick Up the Phone!” Why (& How) Fundraisers (& Artists!) Should Be Making Mid-Level Fundraising Asks. Register by the end of the month.
31 July – ANZ Seeds of Renewal Grants
Up to $15,000 to community orgs for projects that will help rural communities to thrive. The objectives of the program are to build vibrant and sustainable communities.
31 July – Sisters of Charity Foundation Community Grants
Up to $20,000 for community projects. They should improve financial wellbeing, promote social inclusion, strengthen wellbeing, or empower marginalised communities.
1 August – Adelaide Fringe 2026 Fund Grants
Funding for artists and collectives for Adelaide Fringe 2026. Up to $5,000 for artists and collectives and $7,500 for producers. Fringe will fund operational costs, initiatives to remove artist and audience access barriers, and regional touring. Up to $2,500 for early career producers to undertake mentorship during Fringe 2026.
4 August – Adelaide Festival Centre Arts Leadership Program
Fully funded four-day intensive with leadership guidance and curated workshops from expert leaders. For industry workers and future leaders who want to progress their leadership careers.
5 August – Creative Australia Matched Funding
Plus1 offers organisations up to $50,000 in matched funding. MATCH Lab provides artists and groups up to $10,000 in matched funding. There is an online info session for Plus 1 on 9 July, and MATCH Lab on 10 July.
5 August – Creative Australia x Cité internationale des arts Residency
Three-month residency in Paris offering $12,500 and accommodation. Artists direct their own program of activity and expand their practice and networks.
7 August – Arts House Warehouse Residency and CultureLAB EOIs
The Warehouse Residency provides up to $48,000 to support new creative projects by Deaf and Disabled artists. CultureLAB offers up to $20,000 for mid-career or established artists to develop new work. There are info sessions for both on 16 July.
12 August – Werner Fenz Grant for Art in Public Space 2026
17,000 EU for a project that focuses on the sociopolitical context of Graz and Styria in Austria. It should engage local citizens, everyday life and latch onto existing public structures. Judged by an international panel.
15 August – RANT Arts Regional Arts Fund Project Grants (TAS)
Up to $30,000 for arts projects benefitting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences and communities in TAS.
17 August – Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships
$200,000 unrestricted, tax-free grants for early mid-career artists, creatives or cultural leaders. The criteria for the fellowships are outstanding talent and exceptional courage.
Kasippu Performer EOIs (NSW)
Kasippu bar in Sydney are looking to program artists. They’re looking for performers across music, spoken word, comedy, and experimental art.
Creating Out Loud Launches ‘Easy Read’ Guides
Creating Out Loud is a series of self-facilitated group sessions. Artists and art workers meet to connect and rethink issues and practices. The program has launched their ‘Easy Read’ guides as part of the Creating Out Loud Discussion Guide Library.
Creative Workplaces
The Creative Workplaces website is now live, with information and resources for artists, arts workers and arts organisations. The website includes plain language guidance on navigating pay and conditions, bullying, discrimination, harassment, safety, and more.
A New Approach ‘Government, Culture and Creativity’ Report
A New Approach has released a report on understanding government actions in arts, culture and creativity. Arts and cultural orgs can use it to understand how all levels of Australian government are enabling arts beyond direct funding.

6 July – The Substation Resident Program EOIs
For artists and companies interested in studio space at The Substation in Newport. Rent is offered at a sliding scale. Artists currently in residence include Peter Waples-Crowe, Tra Mi Dinh, Rawcus, Australian Art Orchestra and Western Edge Youth Arts.
10 July – The Betty Amsden Fellowship
Up to $100,000 for an outstanding sector professional to develop new thinking and champion best practice. The focus for 2026 is thought leadership in performing arts management.
10–12 July – Dancehouse Dance (Lens) Festival Masterclasses
Two masterclasses on screendance making. Moving Cameras with Takeshi Kondo, on the camera’s relationship with the moving body. Sound with Darrin Verhagen, on the sonic potential of live performance dance work. Cost: $45.
12 July – Theatre Works ‘Navigating Venue Applications’ Workshop
Workshop and networking lunch for independent artists on pitching work to venues. The workshop will also look at the Theatre Works 2026 venue application process. Cost: $16.
18 July – Melbourne Fringe Judges EOIs
Melbourne Fringe are doing a rare open call for judges on their ‘Best in Category’ judging panels. Judges will need to be available in Melbourne from 30 Sept–19 Oct this year. This is a volunteer position.
19 & 25 July – Schizy Inc Kind Society Panel Discussions
July is Disability Pride Month. Schizy Inc is hosting conversations on the disabled experience of mental health. Speakers include Heidi Everett, Carly Findlay, Eva Sifis, and Jeremy Hawkes. At Reservoir Library and Ivanhoe Library.
21 July – Lesley Hall Arts and Disability Scholarship 2025
$5,000 scholarship to support a Deaf or Disabled artist or arts worker in Victoria who use their creative practice to advocate for Deaf and Disabled people.
22 July – Performing Artists Dinner in Brunswick with Tim Read
The Melbourne Physical Theatre School is hosting a free dinner with Tim Read, the local MP for Brunswick. Open to performing artists in Brunswick. This is a chance to connect with other artists, and to share your challenges and triumphs with your local MP.
23 July – Lucy Guerin Inc Resident Director 2026 EOIs
For Melbourne-based mid-career choreographers to join the Company as a Resident Director in 2026. The Resident Director receives a $12,000 fee and up to 6 weeks of full-time access at WXYZ Studios to support the creation and development of new work.
23 July – Professional Development: Creating Welcoming Environments with Arts Access Victoria
Arts Access Victoria is running training for people working in public-facing roles. On providing a welcoming environment for Deaf and Disabled people. Cost: $150.
31 August – Identifying Precarious Victorian Oral History Collections Project
A pilot project led by oral historians in the Australian National University. Little is known about precarious collections held outside of major cultural institutions that are at risk of being lost. The project seeks to identify and record details about these collections. Submissions are open for any person, group or organisation with a precarious oral history collection in Victoria.
Inquiry into the Cultural and Creative Industries in Victoria
The Victorian Inquiry into the cultural and creative industries report has been released. The report looks at the impact of Covid-19, access and participation in regional and remote Victoria, and more.

7 July – Canberra Youth Theatre Emerging Playwright Commission
Offering $17,400 to an emerging playwright aged 16–35 to create a new, full-length work for performers aged 7–25.
15 July – Rising Phoenix: SPARK Fellowships 2025 (TAS)
$2,000 for young Northern Tasmanian artists and arts workers aged 18–25. Create new work and gain skills and mentorship.
20 July – Carclew Fellowships 2026 (SA)
Up to $10,000 to support young artists and arts workers to undertake creative and professional development. Applicants must be 26 years and under.
23 July – Western Edge Seed First Nations Writing EOIs (VIC)
For a First Nations artist with a connection to Naarm’s West, to develop their writing over a three-month period. The artist receives $5,000 and mentorship from Jane Harrison and Tahlee Fereday.
13 August – Next Gen Arts Regional Arts WA (WA)
Up to $5,000 for regional artists in regional WA to deliver arts activities for young people aged 12–18.
Utp Rising EOIs (NSW)
For Greater Western Sydney artists aged 17-25 to take part in Utp’s four-year program. Young artists will be mentored through workshops and excursions to local organisations. Participants receive $75 honorariums for each workshop they attend. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Creative Australia ‘Next Generation Now: Benefits of the Arts for Children and Young People’
The report summarises selected research and recommendations on children, young people and the arts. Co-written by TNA Board Member and ASSITEJ International President, Sue Giles, and Simon Abrahams.
On the Move Cultural Mobility Forum 2025 Resources
An EU-funded forum that investigates international artistic and cultural mobility trends. In 2025, the forum focused on the pathways for young and emerging artists. There are recordings of the panel discussions and webinars available.
CAPT STUFF (Circus and Physical Theatre)
Flying Fruit Fly Circus to Lead 50 Perry Street
Flying Fruit Fly Circus has been appointed the new head tenant of 50 Perry Street in Collingwood, opening up access to the purpose-built rehearsal, performance and creative development facility. Under its leadership, the facility will be reimagined as Circus Centre Melbourne, a hub for circus and physical theatre artists and companies in Victoria.
5–12 July – Aerial Teacher Training Courses (QLD)
Aerial Wisdom is offering intensives in Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop, Trapeze and Aerial Hammock. Cost: $350.
18 July – Showcase Victoria CaPT Initiative Venue Funding EOIs 2025 (VIC)
Up to $10,000 for presenter venues based in Victoria to program a CaPT project from the 2025 Showcase Victoria program. Venues must have an established practice of presenting a program of professional performing arts work.
15 July – NICA Australian Circus Summit 2025 EOIs
NICA is holding an Australian Circus Summit on 8–10 October. There will be three days of discussion, collaboration, and connections. EOIs are open for panel speakers, industry leaders and practitioners to take part.
