Please find the first quarterly bulletin for 2019 below. Your national CaPT advisory group will resume meetings in the coming month, and we look forward to working with all of you this year.

Wrap up – Circus & Beyond: Arts Workers Forum in Sydney, Jan 2019
TNA attended the two-and-a-half day event which brought together the professional and youth circus sectors for discussion, debate, provocation and collaboration. Read the wrap up.

20 Feb – Chookas and Chats: Circus Performers Meetup, Adelaide Fringe
Free event for emerging to established circus artists. Facilitated by working artists, this is a chance to imagine, plan and connect, not an arts market! No bookings. Presented by South Australian Circus Centre with support from TNA. Dates: 20 Feb & 6 Mar, 3pm – 4pm at Fringe Club, Adelaide. Contribute to the discussion topics here.

21 Feb – Join us at the ‘Not In My Workplace’ Summit in Melbourne
The summit runs from 12pm-6.30pm, Thur 21 Feb 2019 at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Gather tools and resources to help eliminate harassment in your workplace. TNA is attending with a small group – hope to see you there!

12 &13 Sep – Save the date: Youth Arts Summit 2019 in Adelaide (SA)
National Youth Arts Summit, 12-13 Sep 2019 at Carclew, Adelaide. Day 1 will be handed over to young creatives (under 30). Day 2 is for all professional arts organisations, cultural leaders, artists, young creatives and policy makers. If you would like to be involved in a working group, contact Georgie Davill at Carclew.

Call Out: Professional Performers for 2019 Australian Circus Festival (QLD)
Deadline for applications extended. Held from 25 Nov – 1 Dec 2019 at Hudsons Circus, Brisbane. Read more here.

15-19 Apr 2020 – Save the date: Catapult Festival in Bathurst (NSW)
Catapult National Youth Circus and Physical Theatre Festival will return to Bathurst – a meeting point for metropolitan, regional and remote youth circus practitioners and professionals. Programming is underway, and troupes across Australia are welcome. Follow on facebook to stay updated or get in touch

15 Feb – Women’s Circus seeking board member (VIC)
Women’s Circus is looking for an individual who is attracted to the mission and values of the organisation. Applicants must also possess one or more of the following skills: Accounting (ideally CA or CPA); Financial management; Not for Profit treasurer experience. Applications close Fri 15 Feb. More info.

13-19 Apr – Opium Residency, Berlin, Germany
A new Creative Residency directed by Firenza Guidi. The workshop/creation is open to actors, circus performers, dancers, musicians, visual artists and technicians from all disciplines and to all those with a desire to embark on a multi-faceted creative journey. More info here. 

30 Apr – Call for Performances: 20th ASSITEJ World Congress – Tokyo, Japan
Open Call for international productions for the 20th ASSITEJ World Congress / International Theatre Festival for Children and Young Audiences in Tokyo from 14 – 24 May 2020. The theme of the festival is ‘Towards the Unknown’. Applications close 30 Apr 2019. Read more.

10-14 Jun – Open Call: Residency for Contemporary Circus Artists, Münster, Germany
The research project Zirkus | Wissenschaft invites applications for contemporary circus artists. Offering the chance to develop new work in collaboration with the students from the University of Münster. Open to artists interested in dramaturgical reflections. Apply by 15 Feb 2019. More info here.
