TNA’s Transition to More Ethical Banking

In 2023 TNA became part of the A Climate For Art (ACFA) coalition, and made the pledge to divest our finances from fossil-fuel supporting banking.

We were banking with ANZ at the time, and identified two potential new banks, Bendigo Bank and Bank Australia, and ultimately decided to go with the latter. Changing banks is always a long and complicated process, and we experienced many setbacks along the way, mostly due to banking staff’s inexperience with working with not-for-profits.

To assist other organisations who are thinking about changing to a more ethical bank, we have created a step-by-step process of our transition to Bank Australia, including some important considerations for organisations considering the same bank.

Nothing in this document should be considered as financial advice, and we cannot make any guarantees that it will remain accurate over time, as Bank Australia may update their processes. TNA is not specifically recommending or encouraging organisations to select Bank Australia, but rather are happy to share our tips for those that have selected Bank Australia.
