Victorian Lobbying Reform

The Victorian Government is calling for people to participate in its consultation on reforming Victoria’s lobbying regulation.

TNA, like many arts and culture peak bodies and service organisations regularly advocate to and lobby governments on behalf of the performing arts sector for public benefit, representing under-resourced communities, advancing cultural equity, and fostering social outcomes. Currently, non-profits and charities are exempt from the Lobbyist Code of Conduct.

TNA has prepared a submission to the consultation on behalf of Arts Industry Council Victoria (AICV), the network of state arts peak bodies. In our submission we call upon the Victorian Government to maintain the current exemption for non-profits charities, and to ensure any changes to lobbying at a local government level are clearly defined so as to not obstruct relationships between local government and our sector.

Read AICV’s full submission.
