Victorian Touring Workshop

The annual Victorian Touring Workshop is hosted by Regional Arts Victoria, Theatre Network (Vic) and the Victoria Association of Performing Arts Centres. Future workshops will be listed in Events. Read below to learn more about previous workshops:

 

2015 Victorian Touring Workshop
20 October, 2015.
Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre

Presented by Regional Arts Victoria, Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres and TNV, the annual touring forum is a chance to learn more about the touring pathways in the forthcoming years. This year’s forum will be held at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, South Morang on Tuesday 20 October from 10am.

If you’d like to participate in the formal program you can express interest in running your own breakout session during the event. Please note that the breakout sessions will be programmed at the discretion of the Victorian Touring Workshop Steering Committee.

 

2014 VICTORIAN TOURING WORKSHOP
Wednesday October 29th, 2014
Clocktower Centre, Moonee Ponds

Theatre Network Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria, and the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres warmly invite you to attend the 2014 Victorian Touring Workshop.

Cost: $25 for unfunded organisations/individuals and $40 for funded organisations/individuals. Lunch included.

Last year’s workshop was an extraordinary event for everyone looking for touring and programming opportunities during 2014. This year’s event will focus on 2015 and beyond, offering all manner of great advice for newcomers and experts alike.

Whether you work in a venue, with a large company or are an individual artist, if you are brand new to touring or an old hand looking for inspiration, your foray into touring opportunities will be significantly more effective if you attend the 2014 Victorian Touring Workshop.

Submissions for Showcase Victoria 2015 will also be launched at the Touring Workshop – so don’t miss out!

You can support initiatives such as the ‘Go Pitch’ fund to help with the artistic development of our shared touring programs by donating a few extra dollars.

 

2013 VICTORIAN TOURING WORKSHOP

Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre, Preston

Presenters, Producers, Theatre Makers, Performing and Live Artists, Dancers, Directors, Writers, Choreographers, Marketing and PR folk, Technicians, Programmers, and everyone else who participates in the performing arts is invited to the 2013 Victorian Touring Workshop.

The role of the Victorian Touring Workshop is to provide support and inspiration to all Victorian performing arts practitioners looking at touring pathways and opportunities in the forthcoming year.

A SNAPSHOT OF THE DAY

9:30 AM — Registration opens.
10:00 AM — Introduction and What have you got in your Toolbox? Tips, tech, timelines, marketing, budget and links.
10:10 AM — What the heck are Showcase, Long Paddock and Cyberpaddock anyway?
10:50 AM — Case study: I went to the Showcase and all I got was this awesome tour: The producer and the venue share their stories.
11:50 AM — Breakout sessions: • Touring and Technical Planning • Marketing and Publicity • Programming Policy • Understanding Touring Market Places • Budget Planning for your Project • Tour Building and Travel Planning
12:20 PM — Lunch.
1:05 PM — Marketing to the Industry and Marketing to Your Audiences; A PR person and a Journalist discuss.
2:05 PM — Breakout sessions (repeated as above).
2:40 PM — Panel: Access & Success. A forum discussing ways in which touring and programming can be made more accessible for artists and audiences with disabilities.
4:00 PM — Final comments, surveys and thanks.
4:15 PM – 5.15PM — Social space.

Cyberpaddock tips and trips: Learn about the ins and outs of Cyberpaddock, and how to make it work for you! Facilitated by Regional Arts Victoria.
