22 Mar – TNA’s Queensland Performing Arts Sector Meeting
Join us and the newly named Queensland Chamber of Arts and Culture for a performing arts sector meeting to look at ways to strengthen the small to medium and independent sector in Queensland. 15 Mar – Catalyst Grant Round closes next week
The next round of Catalyst grants will close at midnight (AEST) on Wed 15 Mar for activities commencing after 1 Jul 2017. Projects by, or that involve, small to medium organisations will be given priority. Guideline and application info.
Arts Access Victoria launches ‘Art Matters’ – a suite of capacity building resources
A three linked capacity building resource for the arts, disability and mental health sectors: 1) Art and You – A Planning Guide: designed to empower people with disability and mental health issues to argue for NDIS funding. 2) ARTfinder: an online tool to search for and find inclusive and accessible arts programs. 3) Art for Everyone: a comprehensive guide to creating accessible and inclusive arts programs.

10 Mar – Arts & Culture Infrastructure grants close this Friday
The 2016-17 Arts & Culture Infrastructure grants from Liquor and Gaming NSW offer $100,000 – $300,000 for a single project for the development and enhancement of arts and cultural facilities across NSW. Funding is available for construction, renovation, accessibility upgrades and purchase of equipment. Applications close 5pm on Fri 10 Mar 2017. Eligibility and application criteria.
10 May – WA Showcase at Subiaco Arts Centre – Register now
Looking to engage with Western Australian work, venues, producers and artists? With various funding streams in the market, WA Showcase also features a professional development program. WA Showcase runs from 10 – 12 May 2017 at the Subiaco Arts Centre. Registrations range from $150 p/day to $350 (full conference). Closing 3 May. More info.

Australia Council Tool – Arts And Cultural Attendance And Participation
In January, the Australia Council for the Arts released a new online interactive dashboard looking at attendance and participation with the arts at a local region level. Using 2013/14 Australian Bureau of Statistics data, it covers cultural attendance, creating, and participation across art, craft, theatre, dance, music, and literature. View the dashboard here.
20 Mar – Creative Partnerships Australia: Arts Sponsorship Masterclasses
Learn about securing and maintaining partners; good practice and methodology; confidence and language skills, and look at case studies of successful models. A new online network – Circus Network Australia – launching 10 Mar

13 Mar – Malthouse and FCAC’s ‘Living Now’ residency and commission for diverse writers
Apply for ‘Living Now’ – a new program providing a residency and commission for two writers from diverse backgrounds. Includes a residency of up to 8 months at Malthouse Theatre, a writing workspace, and regular meetings with a dramaturg and mentors to further develop ideas for a new theatrical work. 26 Mar – Artist Intensive for practising artists and art workers
The Artist Intensive is a core group of 25 artists from all fields with an interest in politically-engaged practice and will undertake workshops, case studies, discussions and shared meals with Mel Evans, Kelly Doley, Alex Kelly, Amy Spiers, Gabrielle de Vietri and Megan Cope. 10 Mar – Playwright Hot Desk at the Wheeler Centre – applications close this Friday

14 Mar – Apply for Creative Victoria’s Marketing Innovation Fund – Up to $20,000
Offering a total of $100,000 for individual grants of up to $20,000 for small to medium organisations across the creative industries, this annual fund provides support to undertake marketing projects to grow their audiences or markets in new ways. Australia’s Representative to Nominate for the ASSITEJ Executive Committee – Sue Giles
Following a call out and EOI process, Sue Giles has been chosen as Australia’s representative to nominate for the ASSITEJ Executive Committee for 2017-2020. Sue has been in the role since 2014, so this further term will consolidate and build on her work with the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will be voted in at the ASSITEJ Congress in South Africa in May. The Australia Council for the Arts is supporting a small delegation of Australians to attend the Congress. TNA is now the ASSITEJ National Centre for Australia
With thanks to the contribution of some of TNA’s members who work in the Theatre for Young Audiences or Youth Theatre sectors, TNA has joined ASSITEJ as a National Centre, to continue Australia’s long association with the international network. More info here.
VALE Betty Amsden
Melbourne philanthropist and arts advocate, Betty Amsden, has died, aged 90. Betty was a passionate supporter of the arts for children, and the Betty Amsden Trust has supported the ASSITEJ International Executive Committee position since 2014. We will all miss her personal interest, warmth and advocacy for the sector.
