The People of Cabaret is an organisation dedicated to amplifying, uplifting, nurturing and supporting artists who are Indigenous and/or Bla(c)k and/or people of colour (IBPOC) who work in cabaret. They are an organisation formed by people who are IBPOC, for people who are IBPOC. The People of Cabaret believe in equal opportunities and they are committed to building and maintaining a performing arts landscape which allows us all to thrive.

Awarded annually to one recipient per year from 2018 to 2022, the bursary recognises both the existing and potential contribution of an outstanding Australian-based Independent Artist or Producer to the performing arts sector. TNA feels that the many indies who are working on The People of Cabaret meet this criteria. It is a small gesture to acknowledge that these vital contributions are often a result of many unpaid hours.
