WA Youth Action Plan: TNA Submission

The WA state government is currently undergoing consultation for a new action plan for young people. The current action plan is here

TNA convened an online meeting for the WA youth arts sector in November 2023, followed by an in-person gathering in March 2024, to find out the key issues for young people engaging in the arts, and what solutions could be put forward.

Out submission made five recommendations:

  1. Wellbeing – Increase funding to Healthway to support arts activities for young people.
  2. Arts & Education – Investment for the DLGSC’s Creative Learning Partnerships Program.
  3. Arts for All – Facilitate stronger implementation and accountability of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts by requiring schools to submit compliance reports.
  4. Future jobs – Investment for traineeships for young people in critical workforce areas such as production and technical workers.
  5. Job Pathways – Investment for fellowships for young and emerging professional artists.

TNA will continue to advocate through other avenues to help strengthen the sector.
