Circus Producers Club
Check in every second month to workshop producing challenges with your peers. May Producer Club was held at the TNA office in Southbank and we dived into discussions on touring, contingency/risk planning, and rethinking sustainable circus practice. We have a few subsidised CaPT places available for this two-day professional development salon on Thursday 21 & Friday 22 July. Take part in workshops and guided conversations that will develop your skills as an independent producer and connect you with your peers. EOI: Artist x Producer Coaching Breakfast
TNA is hosting a one-hour coaching session for artists with a professional performing arts producer over breakfast. If you are an artist, you will be paired with a mid-career/established producer. If you are a mid-career/established producer, you will be paired with an artist(s). Participants will be paid $150 to attend this session, breakfast is provided. Submit your short EOI here.
TNA’s Annual Indie Survey is Now Open (first 250 respondents are paid $50!)
This survey captures the realities of life as an independent artist, and this year we’re keen to hear from as many CaPT practitioners as we can. The first 250 respondents will be paid $50, so take the survey quick smart to get in on the action! This third edition of THIS IS HOW WE DO IT will assist our ongoing advocacy and help Indies with fee benchmarking. It will be available as a public report in the coming months for everyone to use.

Victoria
CaPT Project Funding from Australia Council – Closing July 21
This program is designed specifically to support the circus and physical theatre sector in Victoria. It provides investment into artist and artform development, skills development, employment, market development and artistic outcomes for organisations and individuals and groups. (Note: non-Victorian applicants may be eligible if you can demonstrate benefits to the Victorian sector.)
TNA will be offering support for those applying for funding, more details coming soon.
Australia Council CaPT Funding Webinar next Wednesday Jun 15, 12pm AEST
Join Annette Madden, Head of Theatre and Andy Donovan, Director of Multi-Year Investment, answering your questions about the upcoming project funding. This session will be recorded and accessible via the Australia Council website. If you are unable to attend, you may send your questions prior to a.donovan@australiacouncil.gov.au.
Women’s Circus Looking for Aerial Trainers
Women’s Circus are on the hunt for new Aerial Trainers for Term 3 and beyond, for their beginner, all levels and advanced classes. Term 3 starts the week of 11th July and runs for 10 weeks. Register for Melbourne Fringe 2022 Festival
Registrations are now open to participate in Melbourne Fringe’s 40th year festival. Event registrations close 1 July so get on it quickly if you want to be involved.
New Cultural Facility Planned for Footscray
Maribyrnong City Council are in the planning process for a new state-of-the art cultural facility in Footscray and have consulted with TNA and Women’s Circus to understand the needs of the Circus & Physical Theatre sector. If you have comments, feedback or would like to know more about this project, please let us know.
National
Hand2Hand Incentive Applications OPEN NOW
Circus Tricktease are running their fabulous seed funding program again in 2022. Hand2Hand Incentive funds experimental new works which do not easily fit existing grant processes or are otherwise unable to fund a work themselves. Successful applicants will be chosen at random and will receive $2k advance or to use towards a presentation. Four places available, applications close 5 July.
National Circus Festival, Training Program and Youth Circus Symposium – ONSALE
Tickets are now available for this full week of circus activity in Mullum.
The National Training Program (Mon 26 – Thurs 29 Sept) is four days of intensive circus training across a vast array of specialities from Australia’s best trainers and performers.
The 2022 National Youth Circus Symposium (Wed 28 & Thurs 29 Sept) offers an amazing opportunity for young and emerging circus artists, circus trainers, company staff and management to come together to discuss the sector as a whole. The Program will span two days with a focus towards ‘Building Circus of the Future’.
The National Circus Festival (Fri 30 Sept – Sun 2 Oct) showcases the incredible talents of Australian circus artists, profiling established shows and companies as well as supporting emerging artists and works in development.

UK: Circus Change Up Working Groups underway
This grassroots sector development initiative has established working groups on career progression, touring and network collaboration in the UK Circus Sector. UK: Circus Rigging & Safety Hub
If you are heading to the UK anytime soon be sure to check out the resources at CircusRigging.info. This membership community is a hub that connects artists, riggers, technicians, students and venues to discuss circus rigging and safety in a UK context. As well as resources and industry news they hold regular livestreams, workshops and an annual Technical Symposium. Their latest livestream was a primer on how to do inspections.

Lauren Eisinger joins Legs on the Wall as Producer
Originally from Sydney, Lauren has worked as a Producer and Festival Programmer in the UK and across Australia. As well as being a member of the TNA CaPT Advisory Committee, Lauren is a prolific and accomplished CaPT producer, including running her own successful production company. She joins Legs on the Wall in the role of Producer.
Circus WA Fundraising Campaign
Congratulations to Circus WA and their dedicated community on their stellar fundraising campaign that saw them exceed their target of $25,000 to access the full amount of matched funding from Plus1. These funds will go towards programs for aboriginal youth, children with disabilities and youth circus.
