15 Aug – APAF Briefing
TNA is holding an online briefing ahead of the Australian Performing Arts Forum (APAF) 2023 for registered and potential delegates from the Performance with/for/by Young People sector. Come along for 30 minutes to hear about the APAF program and how to be a great advocate while you are networking! Register here.

Be a good advocate at APAF!
TNA has prepared a fact sheet with key facts about the sector and advocacy talking points to help you be a good advocate for the youth arts and theatre for young audiences sector at APAF (or anywhere else!).

Youth Arts Chairs’ Network
We have 36 Chairs and Board members signed up to the Youth Arts Chairs’ Network! The group will be meeting online three times, Oct-Nov, with a focus on learning about the national sector context and best practice governance.

Reach out to the ASSITEJ Committee
TNA’s ASSITEJ Advisory Committee meets quarterly to provide TNA and ASSITEJ (via Sue Giles) updates on the key issues, opportunities and news from the youth arts and TYA sector. We ask them to reach out to organisations and artists in their state/area before committee meetings, but we also encourage you to proactively reach out to them – they’ll be glad to hear from you!

Child Protection Policy Template
The Institute of Community Directors has a free policy bank with templates you can use. Law firm Maddocks have updated their Child Protection Policy in the bank that you can download and use.

Governance Conversations Webinar Series
Creative Australia and Diversity Arts Australia are offering a free Governance Conversations webinar series on topics such as board representation, succession planning, and more. Takes place Aug-Oct.

1 Sep – Signal’s 2023 Young Creatives Lab
Signal’s Young Creatives Lab (VIC) provides an opportunity for young artists and creative practitioners to propose new ideas for exploration and development at Signal, with funding from $5,000 to $8,000 per project. EOIs close 1 Sep.

8 Sep – Carclew Project and Development Grant
Grants between $3,000 and $10,000 for skills development, creative practice, career building, and development and/or presentation of new or existing work. Applicants must be aged 26 years or under.

11-15 Sep – Not-for-Profit Finance Week
The Institute of Community Directors is presenting free webinars during Not-for-Profit Finance Week. Topics include fundraising, board management, ethics, and more.

COJA Youth Collective Callout
The Centre Of Jewish Artists (VIC) invites young Jewish creatives aged 12-18 to be part of their Youth Collective program

The 21st ASSITEJ World Congress: Voices of a New World
May 24 – June 1, 2024 – Havana, Cuba.

ASSITEJ Cuba and ASSITEJ International, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the National Council for the Performing Arts in Cuba invite you to the 21st ASSITEJ World Congress and performing arts festival in Cuba – the most important global moment in the field of performing arts for young audiences with participation from all around the world. The ASSITEJ World Congress “Voices of a New World” is calling for Productions/ Performances (by 21 Aug), Professional Exchange Programme Sessions (by 15 Aug), and Conference Papers (by 13 Oct). More info and applications here.

21 Aug – Submissions for Opening Doors Festival 2024 (Wales)
Opening Doors Festival, Wales’ international theatre festival for young audiences, invite submissions for productions to be programmed in the 2024 festival, 12-16 March.

31 Aug – Call for Productions: Festival Visioni di Futuro
La Baracca-Testoni Ragazzi (Italy) is calling for productions for international companies. Productions will be presented during the next two editions of the International Festival of Theatre and Culture for early years “Visioni di futuro, visioni di teatro…”.

1 Sep – 6th International Forum of Researchers and Critics of Performing Arts for Children and Young People
Registration is now open to participate as listeners in the 6th International Forum of Researchers and Critics of Performing Arts for Children and Young People, 4-8 September 2023. Register before 1 Sep.

15 Sep – Open Call: The Festival of the New European Bauhaus
The Festival (Brussels, 18-20 April) is calling for expressions of interest to present cultural and artistic activities. Proposals of an artistic performance, exhibition or participatory activity should reflect the New European Bauhaus core values: Sustainability, Aesthetics, Inclusion.
