TNA’s Response to Government Department Title Change
It is very disappointing that ‘Arts’ has been cut during the recent departmental merge and title change. TNA notes this is the fifth rename since 1998 and seeks more information about staffing, portfolio leadership and budget impacts of this change (rolling out Feb 2020). Read our response here.

22 & 24 Jan – VIPI Meet and Greet sessions for Producer Mentorship Program
TNA is facilitating two Meet and Greet sessions for those interested in the VIPI Mentorship Program. Attend one of the following: 12pm – 2pm Wed 22 Jan or 5.30pm – 7.30pm Fri 24 Jan. TNA’s S2M Salary Survey Results 
For the first time, Artistic Director average salaries overtook General Manager/Executive Producer salaries, at $82,472, and $81,615 respectively. The full Salary Survey report will be shared with TNA company members next week. (Not a financial member? Join here).

16 Dec – EOI call out: First Nations Industry Program and APAM First Timers Program at AsiaTOPA, Melbourne
First Nations Industry Program – Includes 1-day peer learning intensive on Sun 23 Feb 2020, daily touchpoints and free rego for Gathering. | APAM First Timers Program – Support program open to first time attendees. Participants must register for the APAM Gathering to be eligible for the EOI. Both programs close midnight (AEDT) on Mon 16 Dec 2019.

13 Dec – 2020 Copyright First Nations Fellowship
Writers are invited to apply for a 1-week residency at Varuna, in the Blue Mountains of NSW. All genres including dramatic writing are eligible. Submissions in language are welcomed. Applications close 13 Dec.

A New Approach’s second insight report: Transformative: Impacts of Culture and Creativity

16 & 19 Dec – Create NSW Grants: Theatre and Dance
Incubator – NSW Theatre (Emerging) Fellowship delivered in partnership with Griffin Theatre Company. Four residency places for emerging NSW theatre practitioners available. Closes 16 Dec. | NSW Dance Fellowship For Emerging Leaders delivered in partnership with Sydney Dance Company to support a dance practitioner over a 12-18 month period. Closes 19 Dec.

13 Dec – Adelaide Fringe: International Arts Marketplace – Honey Pot Industry Registrations
Honey Pot runs from 14 Feb – 15 Mar 2020 as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. This matchmaking service is for Fringe delegates seeking the best in contemporary arts for future programming. Registrations close 13 Dec. More info.

4 Feb – Australia Council: Career Development Grants for Individuals and Groups
The next round of Career Development Grants close Tue 4 Feb for projects starting after 1 May 2020 (11:59pm AEDT). More info here.

28 Feb – Arts Activities funding – Arts ACT
The next round of Arts Activities $5-50k funding is now open and will close 28 Feb 2020 for activities commencing from 1 July 2020. More info.

16 Dec – Helpmann Fellowship for SA Artists – Up to $20,000
Open to emerging South Australian artists from selected partner institutions working in visual arts, theatre, dance, music and film. Find out more.

13 Dec – Apply for Shows on the Road Grant
Country Arts SA supports regional presenters to independently present high quality, professional performances in their community. Shows on the Road aims to increase access to the arts in smaller regional communities. Closes 13 Dec.

15 Dec – FLOCK #15 End of Year Party in Perth
Perth artists, all disciplines, all stages of career are welcome to celebrate the year together. Sun 15 Dec, 4-7pm at Hyde Park. Book here.

31 Dec – NT Arts Grants Program 2019-20
Strategic Projects (up to $25,000) and Strategic Arts Industry Development (up to $100,000) grants available, closing 14 Mar 2020. Professional development grant (up to $2,000) closes 31 Dec 2019. More info.

31 Dec – 2020 Griffin Award
The prestigious Griffin Award recognises an outstanding play or performance text that displays a contemporary Australian voice. $10,000 prize, and the four shortlisted writers will receive $1,000 each.

31 Dec – Apply for Arts U-15k Grant, WA
This WA government grant program offers up to $15,000 for artists and creative industry professionals to deliver a one-off project or a program activity. 3 categories available are Aboriginal Arts, Commercial Development and Creative Development. Closes 31 Dec. More info.

14 Jan – Emerging Artist Grant – Up to $10,000
The Ian Potter Cultural Trust offers grants to assist talented emerging and early career artists to take up professional development opportunities, usually overseas.

Fringe World – Arts Industry Exchange, WA
Arts Industry Exchange is a new program to service participants and arts industry professionals at FRINGE WORLD Festival, Perth (17 Jan – 16 Feb). Apply here to be considered. Partipication is free.

Giving Attitude: CPA Resource on Private Giving

Back to Back – Come and Make Performance (CAMP)

31 Dec – Creative Victoria – First Peoples Investment Program
Supporting First Peoples individuals, groups and organisations to develop their practice and increase career pathways into the creative industries. Funding is available in three different streams: Connect to Country, Develop your skills and Create something new. Open to individuals, groups and organisations. More here.

9 Jan – Showcase Victoria 2020 Applications Open
If you’re an artist or producer looking to extend the life of your show across Victoria in 2021/22, then the performing arts marketplace Showcase Victoria could be the platform for you. Applications close 9 Jan.

24 Feb – VicHealth Partnership Grants
VicHealth Partnership Grants is a multi-million dollar fund driving positive health and wellbeing outcomes for Victorians. Two streams, Everyday Creativity and The Art of Good Health, focus on the arts and cultural sector while creative approaches will be considered in many other categories. Applications close 24 Feb.

INTERNATIONAL STUFF

11 Dec – Join online TODAY for APAM Wire Series #3 to chat about ISPA Congress 2020, NYC 
The APAM Wire series is a regular online event, providing a range of perspectives from international markets and discussion around creative practice. Join Collette Brennan, Ben Graetz & Viv Rosman in conversation via ZOOM for insights on the International Society for the Performing Arts Congress. 12pm, Wed 11 Dec (AEDT). Register here.

15 Dec – Danse Elargie #6 – France
Apply to take part in an international competition open to artists from all disciplines. Dance Elargie is calling for projects to occupy the stage space for 10 minutes with up to 3 people.. Held on 13 & 14 June at Théâtre de la Ville, Paris. Submissions close 15 Dec.

15 Dec – Call for application 2020 – Odyssée Programme, France
Application for artists, researchers and culture professionals wanting to apply for a residency period in 2020 within a French Cultural Centre. Apply by 15 Dec 2019. More info.

3 Jan – Registrations close soon for ISPA Congress, New York – USA
The theme for 2020 is ‘Reframing the Conversation: Art and Borders’. Congress dates: 14 – 16 Jan 2020. Online registrations close 3 Jan. More info.

21-24 May – Australian Theatre Festival NYC and New Play Award
Held in NYC from 21- 24 May 2020, the newly announced Australian Theatre Festival has launched the New Play Award with a prize of $5,000 for an unproduced, full-length play written by an Australian playwright, over the age of 18 (open to resident and non-residents of New York).

13-16 Jun – IETM – Satellite Gallway, Ireland
Satellite Galway will be held from 13 to 16 June 2020 in Galway, Ireland – Capital of Culture in 2020. Open to IETM members and non-members. More info here.

ASSITEJ STUFF – YOUTH ARTS & YOUNG AUDIENCES

ASSITEJ National Advisory Group
In 2020, TNA is building a pool of TYA and Youth Arts representatives from across the country to provide advocacy leadership for the ASSITEJ Australia Network. To be considered for the National Advisory Group, please complete this short survey by 18 Dec 2019.

Drug Aware YCulture – Regional and Metro youth grants, WA
Open to young people aged 12-26 up to $4,000 to fund community arts projects in regional WA across all art forms. Regional – up to $4k – $6k depending on location. Metro – up to $3k. Both programs close 31 Dec 2019. More info.

Platform – Artist Residency and Development Opportunities, VIC
Courthouse Youth Arts in Geelong has rebranded as Platform announcing new artist opportunities including a 2020 Studio Residency Program, Creative Development Program and Call Out for ‘Energetical’ – a symposium celebrating female and female-identifying creators.

20 Dec – The Bendigo Studio, Arena Theatre Company, VIC
This week-long development lab (16-20 March 2020) is for theatre companies and independent artists who make performances for young audiences to develop a new work and discuss their practice. EOIs close 20 Dec.

31 Dec – Open Call for Performances: SEGNI New Generations Festival 2020, ITALY
Applications for participating in the 2020 festival now open to companies and artists wanting to participate in SEGNI 2020 (31 Oct – 8 Nov 2020).

31 Jan – Australian Children’s Theatre Foundation Fellowship – $20,000
The Joan and Betty Rayner ACTF Fellowship exist to support an artist’s practice in children’s theatre and TYA. Expressions of interest are now open and will close on 31 Jan 2020.

Call for Performances: Minifest, RUSSIA
Minifest (16 – 22 Oct 2020) is one of the oldest international theatre festivals for young audience in Russia. Ttheatre festival for children and young people is now calling for productions.

ASSITEJ Congress 2020 in Japan – Are you going?

20 January – TNA’s CaPT Advisory Group – Call Out
TNA’s CaPT Advisory Group was established in 2017. Meeting quarterly, the five members are on a two-year tenure. A new Advisory Group will be appointed in 2020. If you would like to be considered, or want to nominate a representative, please email Jamie by 20 Jan 2020.

Casting Call – Circa Ensemble 2020
Based in Brisbane QLD, Circa has 3 ensemble positions available from early/mid 2020. Employment is full-time, year-round and involves extensive touring. Read more.

TNA CaPT Sector Gathering 2019
The 2019 CaPT Sector Gathering held on 14 December as part of Sidesault at The Melba centred around TNA’s Safe Theatres Workshop model – working to promote a safe and healthy CaPT sector. Detailed event wrap-up in the final CaPT bulletin for 2019, to be sent out next week.

Circus Oz to explore new artistic director model
In 2020, Circus Oz will introduce a new guest director program that will explore the artistic potential of the company and enable a range of artistic leaders to experiment with different forms and formats. Read more.

Spin Circus Festival and Australian Partner Acrobatic Convention (APAC)
APAC (11 – 14 Jan) and Spin Circus Festival (17 – 19 Jan) will be held in Wensleydale, Victoria at the start of 2020. Read more.

6 Jan – The international training project and Lunar Circus classes in WA
Classes in every discipline will be taught by Trainers from all over the world in Karridale, WA. Open to kids and adults, training is for two weeks: 6 -10 Jan and 12 – 16 Jan, 2020. More info.

14 -18 April – Final Catapult Festival in Bathurst
Catapult will be delivered on a much smaller scale in 2020, with a condensed skill sharing program and workshops with Gravity and Other Myths who will be touring their show Backbone. It will be the last Catapult Festival. Registration info.
