TNA Mini Salary Survey for Circus Trainers
We’re conducting a mini salary survey just for circus trainers. This is in response to requests from the youth circus sector to capture data and benchmark salaries and payment rates for circus trainers across the country. All data will be anonymised.


NATIONAL STUFF

APAM Registrations
Registrations are now open for the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM). This event showcases Australian and New Zealand contemporary dance, theatre, experimental and emerging arts. 23–27 February 2026, Boorloo/Perth.

6 Oct–1 Dec – Arts Tasmania ‘Building an Artistically Inclusive Future’ Webinar Series (TAS)
Free webinars for TAS arts organisations and artists. Build practical skills in working with artists, audiences, and staff with disability. Upcoming sessions include neurodiversity and disability inclusion training.

6 Oct – Arts Tasmania Organisations Projects (TAS)
Funding between $5,000 and $75,000 for orgs. Develop and share art experiences or offer services to the sector.

7 Oct – NORPA Artist Network Event
A monthly catch-up for Northern Rivers creatives in the performing arts. Facilitated by NORPA. 

7 Oct – Festivals Australia Funding
Funding for arts projects that invite community participation in regional and remote Australia.

9 Oct – APAM Groundwork
APAM’s online professional development initiative for this month will be a global perspective on theatre for young audiences. Three leading international festivals will share insights into what shapes their programming today.

9 Oct – Arts Activities in Regional Communities (WA)
Up to $60,000 for projects that support participation in and creation of arts and culture in regional WA.

9 Oct – IETM Global Connect Callout
For performing arts professionals to join the international network for contemporary performing arts. The program offers free IETM membership for five years. Free access to all IETM meetings and training, and community-building online sessions.

10 & 24 Oct – PAC Australia Adaptative Futures
Two online sessions for performing arts centres and cultural orgs to help lead on climate solutions. Session one covers Climate Risks and Opportunities: Climate Scenario Planning. Session two focuses on Mitigation: Emissions Reduction in Performing Arts Centres.

12 Oct – Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo International Showcase
For full-length performances to present at HKPAX. Selected applicants receive basic technical support, promotional support, and a travel and accommodation allowance of $10,000 USD.

13 Oct – pvi collective momentum EOIs (WA)
Week-long lab at PICA for mid-career and established artists. Come together and explore your projects and practice. Artists receive $2,500. 

14 Oct – Creative Australia International Engagement Fund
$5,000 to $30,000 for artists and arts workers. To undertake reciprocal international exchange activities.

14 Oct – Playing Australia Project Investment
Supports performing arts tours to reach regional and remote areas of Australia. There is no limit on the amount that can be requested. Touring activity must be confirmed.

17 Oct – Belvoir Andrew Cameron Fellowship 2026
The Fellowship offers a one to two-year Artistic Associate role at Belvoir. Gain practical experience across directing, creative development, programming, and company leadership.

20 Oct – Arts Access Victoria Stella Young Award
Recognises a young disabled artist aged 16–30 for their impact on disability activism and culture through their artistic practice. The artist receives $3,000.

20 Oct – Create NSW 25/26 Createability Host Organisation (NSW) 
Up to $12,160 funding for arts orgs to host paid internships for artists and arts workers with disability or who are d/Deaf.

22 Oct ­­– Creative Australia Tasmanian Organisation and Artist Forum
For independent artists and arts orgs to connect with Creative Australia and Arts Tasmania. Performing Lines TAS will run two sessions as part of their Sector Day.

24 Oct – Crossroad Arts C.R.U.S.H Travel Scholarships
Three days of workshops on contemporary movement, performance and theatre-making in QLD. Regional artists with disabilities or who are D/deaf can apply for up to $2,000. This funding helps cover travel, accommodation, and attendance costs. 

27 Oct – Chamber Made Deep Dive Mentorship 2026 EOI
For an emerging multi-artform artist to be mentored by sound artist Monica Lim and Chamber Made. The mentee receives $1,000 for 20 hours contact time. Skills development with Chamber Made, rehearsal room observations, and more.

4 Nov ­– Centre for Australia India Relations Maitri Grants 
Between $75,000 and $800,000 in funding for cultural projects that benefit the Australia-India relationship.

5 Nov ­– Brainstorm Productions Auditions (NSW, QLD, VIC)
Auditions are open for the school theatre company’s 2026 season. Actors are paid above LPA rates.

11 Nov – Creative Australia Creative Futures Fund
Supports artistic works that reach and engage large, new and/or diverse audiences. Between $150,000 and $250,000 for the creation and testing of new ideas and works. Between $250,000 and $1.5m for orgs to present their creative projects. Stage 1 applications are open.

17 Nov – Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships
Up to $10,000 for early-career artists and arts workers residing in the Brisbane LGA. Supports structured professional development opportunities.

24 Nov – Biennale CINARS 2026
For artists to present work at The Montreal International Performing Arts Conference. Early-bird registrations are $95 CAD.

30 Nov – Regional Performing Arts WA
Funding for WA artists and orgs to develop and/or present work in regional WA.

The Australian Social Value Bank (ASVB) Grant
Eligible not-for profit orgs can apply to access a 12-month ASVB subscription. Recipients receive peer support, expert advice, resource drops, and more.  

Ausdance National Child Safe Dance Practices Factsheet 
A factsheet that provides national, cross-jurisdictional guidance. For dance organisations, schools and studios to meet their obligations and embed child safety.

NSW Government’s The Art of Tax Reform Consultation Summary Report 
The NSW Government has shared a summary report on what they heard from the sector about tax reform in the arts. Key themes include supporting creative workers, unlocking giving, and more.

MEAA Equity Call Time Campaign Survey
MEAA members have raised concerns that current call time policies indirectly discriminate against women, femme and BIPOC performers. This survey is to inform the MEAA Commercial Theatre Committee on whether current norms, policies and practices for call times are adequate for performers and relevant crew.

UNSW’s Mapping the Cultural and Creative Data Sector in Australia Survey
The Australian Creative Histories and Futures Project at UNSW Sydney has a survey. It aims to capture information about how arts researchers and cultural workers create and use data associated with the arts, as well as the digital platforms that manage it.

VICTORIAN STUFF

5 Oct – Geelong Arts Centre Creative Engine Launchpad 2.0
For artists to develop, refine and present work. Artists receive $8,000, access to rehearsal studio time and mentorship.

8 Oct – Victorian Creative Industries Board Member EOIs 
Join a pool of candidates for potential appointment to one of Victoria’s Creative Industries boards as vacancies arise.

15 Oct – Bluestone Church Arts Space Residency 
For performers and artists who live/work in Melbourne’s West. The creative development residency provides $1,000 and up to two weeks in residence. The supported season residency provides $5,000 for rehearsals and presentation.

15 Oct – Malthouse Comedy 2026 EOIs 
Present a Melbourne International Comedy Festival show at Malthouse. There are different spaces available for hire, with a minimum venue rental fee for each. Malthouse will provide front-of-house, box office, hospitality staff, and technical operators.

19 Oct – YIRRAMBOI 2027 Commissions EOI 
$34,000 commission to develop and present work at YIRRAMBOI 2027. Open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists, collectives, community groups and arts orgs based in VIC.

19 Oct – Yarra City Council Grants 2026
Between $4,000 and $40,000 for multi-activity community projects and longer-term/partnership-driven initiatives. For projects that promote access and equity, deliver local benefit, and enable participation.

21 Oct – LGI Studio Residency 2026 EOIs 
Two residencies for dance artists and choreographers. Make a Start offers in-kind studio space for early-stage developments. Moving Forward provides space and $1,000 per week to progress a project towards production.

22 Oct – Arts Access Victoria’s Accessible Arts Practice Workplace Training
In-person workshop for teachers, arts workers, arts managers and facilitators. Learn how to make your arts practice more accessible. Cost: $200.

23 Oct – Multicultural Festivals and Events 
Up to $50,000 for community orgs to hold cultural festivals and events for Victorians.

24 Oct – Next Wave Arts Advisory EOIs
For artists and arts workers to shape Next Wave’s programs from 2026 onwards. Participants are paid $100 per meeting. Four meetings per year.

26 Oct – Temperance Hall Front Studio Residency 2025 EOIs
Two-month studio residencies for artists to develop their practice. Culminates in a public outcome. Artists receive $2,000 and photography documentation.

27 Oct – 2026 EOIs for Darebin Speakeasy Opportunities
Development Program: Develop and test new performance-based works at Darebin Arts Centre or Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre. Support includes two weeks rehearsal time and $2,000. Companies-in-Residence Program:  Two-month residency for established independent companies to focus on their professional development. Companies receive a cash stipend of $16,000. There are online information sessions for both opportunities on 7 Oct.


CYPA STUFF (Children, Young People and the Arts)

4–5 Oct & 29–30 Nov – Youth Dance Makers Initiative Ctrl + Alt + Create Workshops (VIC)
Workshops for artists aged 14–25 to explore choreography. Connect with peers and learn from choreographers. The first one in October is with Melanie Lane, Yolanda Lowatta and Holly Rowan. Cost: $65.

8 Oct – Youth Week WA Grants (WA)
$1,500 to $10,000 for orgs to deliver events for Youth Week, celebrating young people in WA.

24 Oct – Youth Affairs Council Victoria HEY Grants (VIC)
Funding for youth-led projects that will support LGBTIQA+ peers. For LGBTIQA+ young people under 25. Funding is also available for services to improve support for LGBTIQA+ young people.

31 Oct – Wanderlust in Asia Theatre Festival
Present theatre for children and young people in a nomadic touring festival across Mongolia. Productions should have easy-to-travel stage setup. The festival provides domestic travel within Mongolia, accommodation and meals.

11 Nov – Creative Australia First Nations Arts & Culture Project Fund
$10,000 to $20,000 for Australian First Nations artists or arts workers aged 18–35. Supports creative practice and career development.

11 Nov – International Solo Dance Theatre Festival Stuttgart
For solo works to compete at the festival in Germany. It awards works which are new, original, and display unusual achievement. Dancers must be 30 years or under. Accommodation and a subsidy toward travel costs are provided. Winners receive prize money.

15 Nov – Novi Sad Theatre Festival 2026 Call Out
Present work for children and young people at Novi Sad Theatre Festival in Serbia. The festival provides accommodation and food, and travel expenses up to 2,000 EUR.

The University of Melbourne is Testing a Wellbeing Informed Performance Skills Inventory
The Centre for Wellbeing Science’s inventory aims to help young people develop personalised performance plans. People aged 18–30 can receive a personal performance profile that highlights the mental skills and practices that they are strongest in, and the ones that they could develop further.


CAPT STUFF (Circus & Physical Theatre)

Circus.txt EOIs (VIC)
For emerging performance writers to learn about reviewing performance during Melbourne Fringe. Writers receive a $1,400 stipend.

8–10 Oct – Australian Circus Summit 2025 ‘Out of Lines’
NICA’s Australian Circus Summit has released its full program. It includes panel discussions on advocacy for circus in the arts sector; circus parenting; and circus insurance (with TNA’s own Steph Speirs moderating!). Tiered registrations from $100.

13 Oct – Circus Centre Melbourne
Circus Centre Melbourne is opening their doors in October. They’ll be offering Open Training for circus professionals. Train, connect, and develop your practice at Circus Centre Melbourne’s Hub. To access Open Training, you must complete an application and be approved in advance. 

20 Oct – Vulcana Circus Open House EOIs (QLD)
For young performers to present works at Vulcana’s cabaret. Open to artists aged 20 and under.

NSW Government’s Active and Creative Kids Vouchers 
NSW has vouchers to help families with eligible school-aged children pay for sport, creative or cultural activities. Vouchers can be used at many circus and dance schools. Orgs can register to be a participating provider.

  • Andrea James has been appointed Artistic Director and Co-CEO at ILBIJERRI Theatre Company.
  • Danielle Micich will be stepping aside as Artistic Director and CEO of Force Majeure at the end of 2025.
  • Asha Bee Abraham has stepped down as Artistic Program Manager at Footscray Community Arts. She has taken up a new role in Creative Australia’s International team.
  • Juliana Neves has been appointed the new Head of Circus Studies at NICA.
  • Lindy Hume AM will lead HotHouse Theatre as Creative Director, working with Andrew Gray through their regionally based company, Crimson Rosella Creative Adventures.
  • Encounter Theatre has announced three new appointments: Jules Orcullo as Resident Dramaturg, Briannah Davis as Associate Producer, and Jon Solmundson as Communications Officer.
